Carol and Jay embody our community’s values, unselfishly volunteering, participating in our spiritual life and always supporting those in need. Carol and Jay, both pediatricians, serve as medical consultants to our STrive task force, helping to develop our safety protocols in an ever-changing COVID environment. Previously, Carol chaired our School Board, dedicating herself to our religious school long after her own children had graduated. She served on the Board of Trustees for six years, chaired The Party, our biggest fundraiser, for three years and participated in the Adult Bat Mitzvah Women’s Study Group.  Jay frequently delivered food to the Bronx and represented Shaarei Tikvah in the Interfaith Food Bank. He co-led our Yad B’Yachad Shabbat dinner initiative and served on the Board of Trustees for six years.  Carol and Jay regularly help make a minyan at Friday evening services and through the Chesed Committee are always there to support congregants who are ill or in need of a shiva minyan.

Elizabeth and David Lampert have been key builders of Shaarei Tikvah. Elizabeth co-facilitated our Synagogue 2000 initiative, helping to promulgate the vision of community participation and spiritual growth that guides us today.  Long before synagogue security was in the public consciousness, she urged diligence and has spearheaded initiatives to keep us safe.  We continue to benefit from her ongoing security expertise.  Elizabeth regularly reads Torah and Haftarah at services and served on the search committee that chose our interim Rabbi Astor and our current rabbi, Adam Baldachin. Dave volunteered on our first Capital Campaign in 2002 and co-chaired the second one to retire our mortgage in 2011-2012.  He also served on our Executive Committee and Board of Trustees for many years. As co-chair of our Social Action Committee, Dave is a regular at Cooking Days with a special expertise in lasagna.  He currently serves on the Rabbi Advisory Committee and is a long time member of  the STikball softball team.
